Before and After

The Problem

The client wanted a landscape design that provided year-round color and visual interest. This can be challenging, as most plants bloom during specific seasons rather than continuously. The design also needed to be cohesive, deer-resistant, and suitable for areas with varying sun exposure. Using too many colors risked making the landscape feel busy and uncoordinated, rather than intentional and balanced.

The Solution

We met with the client to review their wishlist and discuss color preferences in detail. To maintain a cohesive and elegant design, we narrowed the palette to three to four primary colors that complemented the exterior of the home. Plant selections were carefully curated based on seasonal bloom cycles, sun and shade requirements in different areas of the property, and proper spacing for mature growth. Deer-resistant plants were prioritized to protect the landscape while still providing consistent color, texture, and visual interest throughout the year.

The Outcome

The final planting design delivers consistent seasonal color while maintaining balance and cohesion. The landscape complements the home’s exterior, thrives in its specific growing conditions, and requires less long-term maintenance due to the use of deer-resistant plant material. The client was thrilled with the result—an elegant, functional garden that remains visually appealing in every season.
